It is a constant surprise to me that in a world that is inventing new means of communication almost on a daily basis, the occurrence of mis-communication is proliferating almost at the same rate? As George Bernard Shaw observed " The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place", well before the invention of these 'new' means of communication - he seems to have 'nailed' it! Whilst the technological advances of email, text, Twitter, blogging etc have increased the means of contact, they obviously have not increased the effectiveness of communication. By all means, let's use any tools available to reach an ever greater audience, but let us never forget.... "It's important to make sure that we're talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds"....put so aptly by Barack Obama. Nothing replaces face to face communication when dealing with misunderstandings or worse... conflict.
